A New Year Brings New Learning at Blueberry School

January has been a great start to the new year for students and staff at Blueberry School.  While the new year typically brings many resolutions for us all, at Blueberry School our commitments remain the same. I would like to share one of these with you today.

We continue to be dedicated to providing our students with engaging learning opportunities in a safe and caring school environment. This is not possible without the efforts of so many.  While our staff lead this charge with exciting lessons and innovative approaches to instruction and exploration, we can’t create this exciting, vibrant and safe learning atmosphere without the help of both our students and parents.

We really do appreciate the efforts of our parents who consistently email and call us with questions, comments and insights on their children. While your involvement as parents is a critical component to student success, we can’t overlook the great students we have.  Our kids come to school happy, healthy and generally glad to be at school! Together we are making a difference in the lives of our students everyday.

At Blueberry School, we also recognize the opportunity to engage our students through creative and innovative learning opportunities.  This month, Blueberry students were entertained and educated during the recent school assembly on Emily Carr! If you haven’t heard about it, ask your child to share with you this fun filled morning.

Also in January, Mrs. Lillywhite’s class had the opportunity to participate in “Hockey Hookey” with the Edmonton Oil Kings.  As if this isn’t enough, Grade 6 Blueberry Students recently completed the DARE program and continue their work with “Parklandia“.  Finally, if you haven’t heard about our Produce Passports and Crunch Days you will want to ask you child to explain these to you.  We are excited for the great teaching and learning opportunities on nutrition and health that these initiatives will support.

These are only a few of the creative and exciting opportunities that our students participated in during January.  To learn more about January at Blueberry talk to your child, check out our website or facebook page and ask your teachers or stop in to chat!

We are excited for another great month of engaging and innovative learning in February!

Sincerely,

Mr. S. Patras
