Spring is Sprung?

While it may not look like it outside, sooner or later the warm weather of Spring will join us!  Looking back, the month of March brought with it many great learning opportunities for Blueberry students to connect the learning we are engaging in at school with the world outside of our walls.

Most recently, Blueberry staff were grateful for the opportunity to spend time with you, our parents, and your children at student-led conferences and portfolio reviews.  These evenings provide a great opportunity for your child to share their learning with you and for you to discuss with your child’s teacher learning goals, strengths and areas for continued growth.  Thank you for taking this opportunity to work with us to ensure the success of all of our kids!

March also provided an opportunity for our students to hear Jonathan Crompton and Adarius Bowman of the Edmonton Eskimos speak about resiliency and health and nutrition to all of our students.  It was a great way to connect our work on student health and wellness to the world outside of school.

Also this past month we saw our Grade 6 students continue their work on the Parklandia projects that they have been engaged in.  This creative initiative is a partnership between Blueberry and the County of Parkland where our students get to deepen their understanding of municipal planning.  It was a great way to see the relationship between much of what we are learning at school and how it is applied in our community.

March also saw students in grades 7-9 participate in Junior Achievement where students were connected with business professionals who worked with them to further their understanding of the world of work.  Students engaged in many learning opportunities and did a great job with their mock interviews!

These are just a few of the many creative learning opportunities at Blueberry School during the month of March.  We are looking forward to a great April and some Spring weather upon our return from Spring Break!

Sincerely,

Mr. S. Patras

Principal, Blueberry School
