This week looks busy and exciting at Woodhaven Middle School.
Monday we start the week with a presentation from a student delegation for the Headstrong Student Summit which several of our grade 9 students will be attending in the near future. This summit will provide a great opportunity for our students to learn more about mental health, connect with other students from throughout the division and understand the resources that are available to support adolescents in our community.
On Thursday we are excited to be hosting our Annual Wolfpack Evening where students in grade 4 will be accompanied by their parents to get a bit of a look into the world of middle school. This is one more step in the process to ensure that our kids… and parents… are confident in their transition to Woodhaven Middle School. We are so excited to have them and want to ensure that they are excited to be joining us!
Also next week, as part of their Woodhaven Connects project, our grade 9 students will be completing their Bike a Thon for the Jack Davis Hope foundation. We are extremely proud of our students for supporting such an amazing cause!
As I do every week, I shared with my staff this infographic to spark some professional dialogue and reflection.
Not to be forgotten is our shout outs for the week. While there are so many people who could be acknowledged this week I wanted to take a moment to thank Mrs. Jacobs for her great work with our Triple Threat Jr. Theatre. I also acknowledged Mr. McLachlan for giving his time so freely to our kids. He gave even more of his time to join us at school council this week to share the amazing Physical Education and Extra Curricular programming that our kids have access to! Also, Mr. Chan coordinated our spring league basketball for our incoming grade 4 students and our current grade 5’s, and finally I thanked Mr. Bradshaw for his efforts in putting together another staff vs student hockey game. It was a great event for all and a fun way to build school spirit.
Until next week…
Mr. S. Patras
Principal, Woodhaven Middle School
