The past week proved to be another busy one in the Woodhaven learning community.
We are very proud of our Gr 9 students and teachers who completed their bike a thon on Friday as a part of their Woodhaven Connects project. The students and staff raised over $2800 for the Jack Davis Hope Foundation. It was an amazing effort by all involved!
Also last week we were excited to welcome our incoming grade 4 students for our Wolfpack evening. This evening provided yet another opportunity for our future “Pack members” and their parents to become more comfortable with their new school. A huge shout out to our student helpers, our grade 5 teachers who all gave up their own evening to be there for our kids and parents, our Inclusive Education Lead Teacher – Ashley Lyster, our CTS Woodworking teacher, Mr. Heudepohl and our CTS Foods teacher, Mrs. Hunka who all worked together under the leadership of Mrs. L. Lyster to make this a great evening for all of our future students. It was a great team effort!
We were also excited to welcome back Mr. Teliani, Mrs. Bradshaw, Mr. Peet and 24 of our grade 7-9 students after another successful Vancouver Sun Run trip. A great time was had by all, but again this would not have been possible without the amazing efforts of those three teachers 🙂 You can learn more and see a few pictures from Parkland School Division schools using this twitter link.
There’s a lot on the go this week as well, with our Triple Threat Theatre students participating in the One Act Festival in Edson, our Health Day on Human Sexuality, our Wolfpack Morning for our incoming grade 4 students, and our learning session with Constable Shelley Nashiem titled “Kids and Drugs – A Parent’s Guide to Prevention” on Monday, April 27th at 6:30 p.m. in our library.
As is my practice, I concluded this week’s memo with a professional learning opportunity for my staff. I encouraged them to read this blog post on homework.
Until next week…
